Hi- I saw your question on the forum, being that I am not a Marine I can't post there but my fiance was a flight contract so... The contract actually begins upon the completion of flight school and winging, it may be six years but it varies on the aircraft. Any time spent in training does not effect that contract time. Now if you drop from flight school, in general your contract reverts to a 4 year ground with "time served" (this also varies on your reason for being dropped, academic vs flight failure).
