    Draftees?

With the manpower demands of our force committments, the draft is a growing possibility.

I am curious to learn what experiences our Viet Nam Era brothers have had with draftees. The closest I've come first hand was with a Gunnery Sergeant I served with in Albany in '84. He wasn't drafted, but the county judge gave him the work farm or Parris Island deal. He is one of the finest SNCOs I've ever worked with.

He told stories of draftees sticking their arms and legs up during firefights, hoping for a "million dollar" wounds.

The choice between the work farm or the suck sounds like your gunny got "drafted". Like WWII, Viet Nam produced (my observation) a whole bunch of not so altruistic enlistees.

Canada, jail, or the military. Not much of a choice for thousands of us.
