    Question about CLIC?

Hey everyone, my unit wants me to head to a course in Quantico soon to be trained to be a CLIC for my company when we go to Afghanistan sometime next year. My question is, does anyone know exactly what a CLIC does? Also, if I do become the CLIC, will I still be out there performing my MOS of 0341 and still be taking the fight to the enemy? I have tried to do some research, especially on my second question, but haven't been able to find too much, so where better to ask then a forum with a bunch of Marines? Also, I have been thinking about when my contract is up, to go active and do a lat move to intel, would this help me out at all with that? Also, how easy/hard is it to do a lat move? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you clic for the company our platoon? If you're for the company, plan to be in the COC the whole time...plt, you could claim that you need to go on patrol to gather intel, other than that...welcome to the pog life of radio watch.

If you're in an infantry battalion going to the Helmand, I wouldn't worry about going out and finding a CAR. It will find you. I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities to get outside the wire. Our company CLIC Chief also picked up the role of civil affairs specialist and did a lot more than radio watch when we were in Marjah earlier this year.

CLIC can really depend on who's in charge and how they utilize you. You're not a collector, you don't rate an FRN, so I wouldn't worry too much about that side. You might be doing some targeting. You will prob be doing 24 hour operations, even if not connected directly to the COC.

CAR? Who cares about ribbons and medals? If you really want them, just but em at a store. The awards process is the biggest joke in the Marine Corps. The guys you work with will know what you did and how you acted, and that's what counts (on a personal level, not to the Marine Corps, lol).
