    Military Honors

    Good Morning Everyone,

Just got word from my mom that my grandpa passed away this morning after a long battle with cancer and other health problems. As of right now looks like I will be able to home for the funeral. My grandpa had spent a few years in the Army during Korea so I know my grandma will be making sure he gets military honors. My question is would it be appropriate for me o wear my Dress Blue Bravos while I play taps or should I go for civilian attire?

My grandpa always joked I joined the easiest of the branches during a pretty peaceful time... Crazy old man .

    Thanks for the input,

    Gonzo

If you are still on active duty Dress Blues are appropriate.

Here is the site, paragraph 2

    2. The dress "B" uniforms consist of the same items as the corresponding dress "A" uniforms, except that ribbons are worn in lieu of medals. Shooting badges may be prescribed. The blue dress "B" uniform (or for officers, the blue-white dress "B" uniform when appropriate for the season) may be prescribed for parades, ceremonies, informal social functions, and as the uniform of the day. The blue or blue-white dress "B" uniform ,may also be prescribed for parades, ceremonies, reviews, and at other such solemnities or entertainments as determined by the commander (such as official visits and daytime receptions). Sorry for your loss. And yes, Blues would be appropriate (and almost expected)

I'm on the All Veteran's Honor Guard here in my County and we have a Honor Guard Bus. We work with all Branchs of the Armed Forces active duty and reserves. Talk to the funeral home were the services are being taken care of. Ask about Military Honor Guard, they will set up the National guard or Army, Also maybe the Veteran's Honor guard. They will fire a weapons salute, fold the flag, play taps, present the flag, and place three spent rounds in the flag. I have done over 325 funerals todate and still counting to do Honors. Sorry for your lose.
