RIP Shipmate
CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. -- A Camp Pendleton-based Navy corpsman died this week from wounds suffered in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan's Helmand Province during his second combat deployment.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Zarian Wood was wounded Friday and died Sunday, according to Camp Pendleton's public affairs office.
The 29-year-old Wood hailed from Houston and was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, based at Camp Pendleton. http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/ibs.san...ord=123456789?
Wood joined the Navy in May 2006. His service record includes several medals, including the Purple Heart.
