    Serial Numbers Vietnam

Can anyone tell me if the Service Numbers they used (prior to using Soc Sec #'s) indicated the State the person was from?...for instance were the first couple of numbers a code for the state the person came from?

For example, the first three digits of someones social security indicates the state that the persons SS card was issued by.

From 1953-1965 USMC Enlisted numbers were between 1,800,000-2,000,000, and from 1966 - 1972 the numbers ran between 2,000,001-2,800,000. (they began using Soc Sec numbers after that)

I don't think your research is correct. I enlisted in August 1963, and my number was
206****. An unforgettable number. I can't kill enough brain cells to get it out of my head!

I graduated March 67 with the number 234 ++++. I'm not sure of the others in my plt. as none of us were known for having long conversations with each other.
