February 6, 2008: The U.S. Marine Corps has long stressed the importance of appearance. A new regulation has decreed that marines in uniform cannot have any visible electronic equipment (usually cell phones). This includes cell phones, or any other electronic gadgets, issued to a marine. Combat uniforms have numerous pockets to store electronic gadgets in, but many marines have been seen with cell phones attached to belts. No more.

hmm im sure radios, nextels adn work phones lwill be exempted. If not where would the 5811's put them?

Read an article about this rulling. Seams that this applies to work issued phones, pagers, etc... also.
