    SgtMaj. Joseph J. Ellis - HQ, Battalion Landing Team 2/4, 15th MEU(SOC)

    This man was the Marine's Marine. There wasn't a time you'd ever see him without a half a can of copenhagen in his lip, but I swear he could talk any Marine into reenlisting for a full 30. SgtMaj Ellis was killed in Iraq in January by a suicide bomber just six months shy of retirement. He extended his tour so he could deploy with us, and the impact he left on me as a Marine will never be forgotten. We miss you, SgtMaj.!
