Newsweek Poll: GOP In Bad State

    NEWSWEEK:
It’s hard to say which is worse news for Republicans: that George W. Bush now has the worst approval rating of an American president in a generation, or that he seems to be dragging every ’08 Republican presidential candidate down with him. But According to the new NEWSWEEK Poll, the public’s approval of Bush has sunk to 28 percent, an all-time low for this president in our poll[..].

While the poll has some high marks for Clinton, it's not all good news. Though the New York senator and former first lady aims to project an aura of inevitability that she will win the Democratic nomination, Obama beats the leading Republicans by larger margins than any other Democrat: besting Giuliani 50 to 43 percent, among registered voters; beating McCain 52 to 39 percent, and defeating Romney 58 percent to 29 percent.

Like Obama, Edwards defeats the Republicans by larger margins than Clinton does: the former Democratic vice-presidential nominee outdistances Giuliani by six points, McCain by 10 and Romney by 37, the largest lead in any of the head-to-head matchups. Meanwhile, Sen. Clinton wins 49 percent to 46 percent against Giuliani, well within the poll's margin of error; 50 to 44 against McCain; and 57 to 35 against Romney.

I say if his poll ratings are down then Bush is in great company...

Name the other presidents that had poll numbers that low... No wait... I'll frign do it...

I think Truman holds the record still... followed by Lincoln...

Its always good to base your opinion on what some stupid media outlet tells you to think.. It makes all that "thinking for yourself" a thing of the past.. I guess that makes life easier for some folks..

I'll go with Savage, or Fred Thompson.

News'leak'. Like I'd trust anything they'd print. Think they have an agenda?

    Naaaah. Couldn't be.

To not think that the republicans have their work cut out for them is not wise.

Oh, I know the Republicans are going to fact an uphill battle. Which is why Fred Thompson would be good for the party, and the country, in the long term.

We'll never have another Reagan, but I think he comes pretty close.

Come on jet... Socialism is dead. SARKO WINS..

eoungh said.. Billary has a much harder road than she even knows..

Because we are fed up with all this commie crapp.

Sarkozy is known for his conservative stance on law and order issues and his admiration for a new economic model for France, suggesting that the country should have a more liberalised economy, inspired by the American and British examples. Until 26 March 2007, he served as the Minister of the Interior of France. He is often nicknamed Sarko by both his supporters and opponents.

    Sarko, the American?

Not anymore. If you aspire to become president of France, it doesn't pay to be too friendly with the U.S.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

    Dewey Defeats Truman...

    HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Left Wing Press? Sheesh every week you got a new Republican brought up on charges.

Maybe if you get Gonzales to fire all US Attorneys that are investigating Republicans you can stop the blood flow.

I doubt that. And, at least one of those US attorneys was up for dismissal prior to the Gonzales mess.

And, this is what I truly DISLIKE about Bush. Instead of cleaning house and getting rid of all the clinton leftovers, HE KEPT THEM. Far past their time. All those US Attorneys 'serve at the pleasure of', and should have been immediately dismissed, along with the rest of the clinton appointees. But NOOOOO. He had to be "nice" (or incompetent, or whatever) and keep them on.

A boneheaded idea to be sure. One that he is now paying for, big time. The whole thing was ham handed from the 'git go'.
