WWII Art Collection
Apologies if this is already in the public consciousness or has been discussed elsewhere, but I found a PBS-sponsored gallery of WWII drawings and paintings tonight, which apparently coincided with a program called "They Drew Fire" (that looks to have been from the year 2000). It covers all service branches, but I thought it was pretty moving and tells sort of an "emotional history" of a lot of different moments of WWII. It's interesting to me how the non-photographic medium conveys a different sort of depth through the artistic interpretation. Some of these are pretty heartbreaking, IMHO.

Looks like there's also a book available.
Enjoy,

(PS, thanks Drifter for recommending somewhere The Old Breed. I'm trying to dig deep into the early stages of Guadalcanal and the scope of that book is giving me exactly the kind of info about the 1st Division that I wasn't able to find elsewhere. It's pretty great.)
