Two Camp Lejeune Marine air delivery specialists, who have been held in the brig since Jan. 28, have been charged with 13 counts of attempted murder in connection to allegations the men sabotaged parachutes used in training jump in September.

Military officials at Camp Lejeune released the list of charges Wednesday. The Marines, both lance corporals, were officially charged Feb. 12, said base public affairs spokesman Staff Sgt. Jay Connolly. The one-week delay in releasing the information was blamed on an administrative oversight.

Lance Cpl. Antoine D. Boykins, 21, from Baltimore and Julian C. Ramirez, 25, of Los Angeles, are accused of 13 counts of attempted premeditated murder, 13 counts of reckless endangerment, conspiracy to commit premeditated murder and destruction of government property for their alleged roles in the Sept. 21, 2002, incident.

Ramirez was also charged with unauthorized absence.
