How many MPs are here???
I was just wondering how many MPs are on this site. I am looking into starting a new Group, but first I want to make sure there are enough of us here. Thanks Marines S/F

I was a 5831 (Corrections) close but no cigar.
I do have a fancy diploma with "Military Police School" on top. (It's that damn small print that gets ya).

The badge thing is something new. We didn't have them when I was in the company. (Feb.1974-Oct.77). We had a white duty belt for those working security.
When I went to LeJeune last year for our reunion there was one Warrent Officer who was wearing a badge. He was the only one to wear on at all.
So, I never wore a badge but did get to see one 29 years later.

I never wore a badge in MPs, only the brassard. Badges came in after I got out in 1977. In the Air Guard I wore the AF Security Police badge.
I started out in MPs shortly after black leather gear began to be used for patrol MPs. Gate sentries still wore white gear. Of course we carried .45 Colt pistols back in the "old days" (no round in the chamber either).
I was also in when the Marine Corps began to field test clip-on ties. Only MPs and a few others could wear them on duty, but not for formal inspections. I think they were being OK'd Corps wide just about the time I got out (Oct77).

As we both got out in Oct. 77 I am assuming that you went in, as I, in 73.
I was in Plt 392 at PI. Yourself?
