VMF(AW) 542 during the early 1960's. Eltoro, Atsugi, Cubi Point and Ping Tung Tiawan. Was in Marine Corps Supply. Those F4D's were not the best bird' around at the time. Air Farce had a hanger next to ours that was full of U-2's.

I was there from 84-88 with MWSG-37.
I believe it was a great place to work for until the base started to wind down in 1988. I think they knew that the base was going to close then.

I know that I'm late !
I was in the 3rd MAW @ El Toro as an MP back in '69 , than got WESPAC orders and ended up in air freight , VMGR-152 ( c -130s ) , 1st MAW @ Futenma Okinawa , Japan , Chu Lai & Danang Vietnam from '70 = '71

1st MAW Mag 16 Marble Mountain,served with the Provisional Rifle Company.
Got in country April 27 1969 the same day that the DaNang ammo dump went up.

Aug. 1968 ,VMFA-334. Sept. 1968 , Oct. 1969 ,H&MS-11 , Da Nang , RVN . Ground support shop . Was on flare crew on C-117 for three months in 1969 . I remember when the bomb dump blew up . We watched it from the roof of our shop . You could watch the smoke come out in a ring , and when it was overhead you could hear it . We were watching the speed of sound .

I was with VMFA 334 from EL TORO to Japan January 1968 to October 1969 I was in the metal shop and did some of the art work for the cruse book.

VMF (aw)451 from 1964 to June 1967. Was on Hot pad in Key West, At Rosie Roads for the Dominican Republic Crisis, did the Transatlantic to Almeria, Spain and the 65-66 Med Cruise on the USS Forrestal. Avionics shop/ Comnav. Anyone else out there that as there I would love to hear from you.
