Marine Recruiter Arrested On Sex Charges

(WFRV) MANITOWOC The Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department has arrested a Marine recruiter on sexual assault charges.

29-year-old Donny Rage is scheduled to appear in Manitowoc County Court this afternoon for a bail hearing.

Rage is suspected of having inappropriate contact with several girls between the ages of 16 and 18.

The sergeant was recruiting in Manitowoc and surrounding areas.

He was arrested on felony charges of third degree sexual assault and false imprisonment.

The sheriff's department believes there may be other victims who've had contact with Rage. They're asked to call the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Department at 920-683-4201.

The United States Marines Corp. is cooperating fully with local authorities, and they say Rage has been relieved of his duties pending the outcome of the investigation.

Bail set for Marine recruiter in sex case Herald Times Reporter May 18, 2006

MANITOWOC — A U.S. Marine’s recruiter stationed in Manitowoc was released today on $15,000 signature bond after authorities say he used his position to contact teen-age girls in the Lakeshore area.

Donny Rage, 29, a sergeant with the U.S. Marines, was arrested late Wednesday and is expected to be charged with third-degree sexual assault and false imprisonment next week, according to Manitowoc County Assistant District Attorney Doug Jones.

At a bail hearing today, Jones said he had no objection to a signature bond, provided Rage has no contact with anyone under 18. Court Commissioner Patricia Koppa approved that condition.

Rage appeared without an attorney and said he is still seeking counsel.

Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Inspector Robert Hermann said a 16-year-old girl contacted the department last week about Rage and an investigation ensued. Rage was asked to come to the department on Wednesday, where he was taken into custody without incident, Hermann said.

Hermann said Rage is suspected of having “inappropriate contact with multiple female victims.”

“He seemed very calm and cool about everything,” Hermann said.

Jones said there are three potential victims in the case, all between 16 and 19 years old.

At his bail hearing today, Rage said he has been living at 1709 Meadow Brook Drive in Manitowoc for seven months and was stationed in South Carolina prior to moving here.

Rage’s downstairs neighbor, Jennifer Schultz, was shocked when she heard of Rage’s arrest.

“He’s a very nice guy,” she said. “He’s very quiet. This is a big shock to me. He doesn’t seem like the type of guy who would do that.”

Hermann said there may be other victims in this case and asks anyone with information to call the Sheriff’s Department at 920-683-4201.
