    The Face of War

Marines in Combat in Vietnam 1967 ~ 1968

Echo 2/5 Marines, during Operation Essex
    20 Nov 1967

    J.L. Duckworth and his a-gunner D. McPherson.

Neither of these two Marines are on the wall, so I hope they made it home in one piece.

Both have on a button that says; "We Try Harder."

The face of Duckworth on a blow-up shows his determination; McPherson's is one of deep contemplation and of the unknown. From the close up, you can see the veterans and the new kid, both Marines, both engaged in battle.

    Return to the rice paddies

It's one of those days, and sometimes the only comfort one truly finds is by visiting those days and not hiding from the shadows of those memories.

    Operation Knox ~ October 1967

A picture I was able to get off the 35mm film I found of myself at the Archieves at College Park, Maryland.

Taken during Operation Knox, the film stated it was India Company 3/7 1st platoon. and I recognized my gun team leader Jones on the right before I realized that it was me, walking across one of the many stream beds we crossed during that Operation.

I held my Sony Camcorder up to the screen and filmed it, so it digitized the picture. It cost about $300.00 to get a real copy of the film. I figured this way was cheaper.

    LOL
