Wearing Glasses to Boot Camp

Hello Marines,

When I wear my glasses to boot camp, during reception will they give me new eye exam or will they get the prescription from my civilian glasses to make a new pair of standard issue glasses?

You will get a new exam and have the standard issue glasses issued to you. If you have particularly poor vision your glasses will be ordered and you SHOULD get them prior to shooting.

Thank you sir. Is the eye exam in reception the same exam that was given at MEPS?

Also do they just try to get the prescription or do they do a full exam with the eye drops and pressing against the eye and all that?

I don't remember my eye exam from MEPS but the one you get at recruit training will be a complete exam.
