The m-16 served me good in the nam. no side arms. if i can't hit the enemy at 30-150 yds out i'm in trouble.

Carrying a firearm into battle? Are you crazy? A person could get killed like that!
I would prefer a Barrett, so I could take out most of the enemy before the battle even started If that weren't available, give me a M16 any day.

She was my baby the MK-19!
Yellowwing that was my specialty the Ma Deuce and the MK-19 Mod 3 40mm.
It is kind of weird firing a machinegun knowing that at any moment if something God awful should happen it might blow up on you. And it would be nothing like a jam in a M60.
I always made sure I took a nice s h i t before I fired the MK-19. I've seen rounds blow up to close for comfort and those head calls always helped out. Kind of like a crazy ride that them circus freaks put on and you have no idea if you will walk away alive or not. lol
I loved the destruction it caused though.

If the pick is limited to old days, the M-14 with a scope. Open to any, the new one being tested that has built in night/infrared, scope, grenade, 20mm capabilies. Hurt 'em the first time.

M-14 was a kick ass rifle indeed and it would be my prefered weapon of choice along with the M-79

How much more maintence was needed for the M-1 and M-14? Was there any relief when we went for the 5.56 M-16 for fighting loads?
With NATO all asunder, I don't see why we can't revert to 7.62 killer rounds. I personally would sleep better with our prodigy, like Lake and Seely, sending some serious weight down range.
