When should we know a ship date / contract question
Hi all,
My son is in the DEP and recently signed for the Infantry MOS. I had expected to find out what his ship date is by now, but my son tells me he still hasn't heard--he's asked his recruiter a few times. When should we hear for sure? He doesn't graduate until May.
And, should we have a copy of his contract and/or MOS signing? I don't mean to sound paranoid, but I'm used to having receipts and documentation! It all still seems a little unreal, and a stack of signed papers or SOME tangible document would help me get my head around this. He got his silver box, of course, which was pretty cool.
Thanks for helping an anxious and proud dad!

Relax Proud Dad.
When it happens , it happens.
Your Sons recruiter will be in touch.
I know it's hard but hang in there.
Yes you will get a copy when all is said and done.
Best of luck to all.

It may be the military but you are still talking about the Government. One of the first lessons is nothing happens very fast. "Hurry up and wait" is a fact of life. You will get used to it.

He should already know his ship date. I don't have an MOS (I enlisted Friday), although I got my ship date on my DEP contract at MEPS. It's easy to miss as it's in a YYYYMMDD format. Check towards the bottom of the contract under "FOR ENLISTMENT IN A DELAYED ENTRY/ENTRY PROGRAM (DEP)."
