Pre-deployment Training
My son will be heading to Afghanistan early next year as part of the troop draw-down scheduled to begin in 2014. My question is what type of training will he be going through in the next 2 months. He has stated to us that he will be going through additional training in this time period but he hasn't really given us any details. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If he isn't giving you much details on his training, then neither could we.

He is not giving details because he has been told not to. We call it operation security (OPSEC) and it saves lives ("loose lips sinks ships"). The less our enemies know what we're doing the better. He will tell you when/if he can - before then, don't ask him - it's for his own safety.

The training the Marines receive prior to these deployments is second to none. Rest assured, he will be prepared.
