Ken Norton, who defeated Muhammad Ali, dies at age 70
Norton didn't begin boxing until being introduced to the sport while serving in the Marines Corps between 1963 and 1967. There, he soon flashed his talent in the ring en route to becoming a three-time All-Marine Heavyweight Champion, according to the Marine Corps Sports Hall of Fame, which inducted Norton into its 2004 class. He also earned a North Carolina Golden Gloves, International AAU and Pan American titles while still in the service.

That Ali-Norton I fight was on ABC Wide World of Sports on a Saturday afternoon. Imagine how that fight was free and it was so great a fight. Today you have to pay 70 Bucks to see some bums as champs.
The Top 10 heavyweights back then were brutal:
Ali
Norton
Foreman
Frazier
Holmes
Weaver - USMC
Spinks - USMC
Shavers
Jimmy Young
Cooney
Bobick
Lyle
Anyone of those guys would be champ today

Pretty good list, but I think the only one who might have been able to last 15 rounds with Mr. Joe Lewis in his prime would have been Clay.
