Lt. Col. (ret) George Van Orden USMC
I attended a memorial service for Lt. Col. Van Orden this afternoon. He was killed by a motorist fleeing the police on the evening of 29 March 2013. The story can be found in the online Richmond Times Dispatch @ Richmondtimesdispatch.com. He had recently joined the James M. Slay Detachment of the Marine Corps League in Richmond. I am posting this so that if anyone who knew him and did not know of his untimely death they could be aware of it. He will be buried at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. It has been a long day for me, should anyone wish more information contact me and I will do what I can to pass on any info that I can obtain.
