I have 4 stars on my SWASM, I had 3 stars comming from Desert Storm, I got a 4th Star for Operation Vigilant Warrior in 1994, ( it is in my SRB as SWASM -4th * 5th award ) I was at a Marine Corps Ball last Nov and was told that no one rated 4 stars on their SWASM,( this came from a recent retired admin chief) if this is true, what award do I replace it with?

d. Engagement Stars. Three service stars are the
maximum authorized for the SWASM:

(1) Defense of Saudi Arabia: 2 Aug 90 to 16 Jan 91.
(2) Liberation and Defense of Kuwait: 17 Jan 91 to
11 Apr 91.
(3) Southwest Asia Ceasefire Campaign: 12 Apr 91
to 30 Nov 95.

3 is the maximum.

You received TWO stars for DS/DS, not THREE. The third star you received was for the Southwest Asia Ceasefire Campaign (timeframe #3 above)

You received three because all of your time was between #1, #2, and #3 timeframe above. Just because you went for another Operation in 1994, Operation Vigilant Warrior, that Operation was under the Southwest Asia Ceasefire Campaign. It was not a stand alone operation or its own campaign.

The Admin Chief is CORRECT. Take off the fourth star and show admin the above dates.
