    MARPAT cammies dry cleaned

Can anyone tell me why you're not supposed to dry clean cammies? I heard starch makes you glow under NVGs, does dry cleaning or commercially hot pressing do the same thing? I wanted to dry clean them so that they don't get all faded. Thanks for your help.

Because the MCO says not to, deal with the fading boot.

    I don't know why but----------
I'm sure there is a reason

Dry cleaning fluid is a petroleum product. It is harmful to certain fabics.
As far as I know, hot pressing is ok

So now the PI recruits can't complain about all the sand fleas.

Sounds like it wouldn't affect it under NVGs then..

Take your cammies to the cleaners and the launder them not dry clean them. Launder as in wash in hot soapy water then dry and press them. You could do the same thing on your own. Dry cleaning is for suits and stuff.

**** that nonsense.... toss them things in the washer and dryer just like any other peice of clothing you have. Maybe 5% of the Marine Corps actually irons their cammies these days and in all honesty, you don't need to unless you leave them on the floor in a pile all wadded up. Wash and dry them, straighten them out and hang them up.

I used to love having pressed cammies and shined boots but I got used to the new era of not having to do that stuff like everyone else.

    Because...the tag says not to...LOL.

Couple of reasons that have already been mentioned. The bug stuff, as well as the IR loss and/or 'glow' when you dry clean them.
