  1. wow your son has almost identicle swim and pft scores as me, thats weird! he will do just fine though, his scores look solid. He is more than ready for RIP and as long as he stays motivated and puts out as hard as he can in RIP then he will pickup into the very first BRC class that comes up. That is true, most guys in BRC are in the 260's for the PFT so if your son is in the 280's then he's golden. Just curious, what instructors did you speak to? Good luck to you and you son and please message me if you have ANY questions about recon, I'm currently in phase 3 down in cornado and I graduate as an 0321 in 2 weeks

    Hi Gavin,

My son just shipped-out for Boot Camp (11) days ago. He has a UZ contract / 0321
Reconnaissance Man. He trained hard for about 3 months before he shipped. A couple days before he shipped-out, he ran a final PFT....he did 21 pull-ups, 107 crunches and a 19:45, 3-mile run.... I think that's a 289 PFT.....

His swimming is solid.....500 meters, full cammies, breast and side-stroke only, in 13:10.....25 meters underwater wearing full cammies, no problem......can tread water in full cammies for well over a full hour (timed).....20 lb. weight-retrieval from 12 feet of water no problem.....

His ASVAB AFQT score was 91 and his GT line-score was 130.....so he's mentally sharp, also......

Does this sound like a guy ready for RIP?

I personally spoke with NCO staff at BRC at Pendleton a couple weeks ago, and was told that on the 21st day of BRC, the guys must run a 250 PFT or better to stay in BRC, and then was told, "bumping it up from 225 is not a problem, because most of the guys are in the 260's and 270's by then"......

Does this confirm with what you have seen and experienced so far?

Please feel free to PM me with any comments or info you may have. Both myself and your country are proud of you for your efforts, young man!
