Re: marine4
I stood on the yellow footprints at Parris Island on June 16, 1969, after a 3-4 day trip from PA. Started out in Philly and went by train to (I believe) Norfolk, VA where we transferred to a train, where the windows didn't work, that took us to Beaufort, SC. From there by bus to "The Island". My drill instructors were Sgt. Starr, Sgt. Born, & SSgt. Brock. Don't know if you or anybody was in at the same time, but I was in 390.
I remember the boot blousing. Our platoon got to do it on graduation day ONLY, not prior thereto.
I remember it because Sgt. Starr told us wew could blouse our boots and Sgt. Born PT'ed everybody who came back from liberty with them bloused.
