Thank you Marines very helpful. I asked my recruiter though and he said none of these are available. My gut tells me BS but for now I am trusting him. He said all combat support are not available... comm, tanks, LAV, combat engineer, arty, etc... which is hard to believe I mean all of them are taken? If so that would suck.
Yea and no thanks on the musicians Haha
And you can't start as an EOD technician or I would be interested in that.
I just told my recruiter of a few more possible ones MOS I would be interested in, like Intel and Motor T, but communications and combat engineer really peeked my interest.

Thank you, but I would like to active duty. If I want active I think its best to just go in active because from what I have read and been told its hard to switch to active from reserves.

Doing EOD takes balls, playing with things that go boom boom and pink mist you...no thanks, I'm good.
Dude just wait for what you want, be it 03 or what ever. It will be worth it in the long run.

In Bootcamp they used to
When I was in Bootcamp in 94 they used to do screening tests for Intellignce Field since there was a shortage and if you passed you were given an option to change your service contract. I'm not sure if they still do that, but I turned down Intel when I signed my contract and when I was in Boot they tried to convince me to go Intel, but I told them I am sticking with my original plan. So its upto you, just make sure you know what you want out of life and the Corps.

Dude almost everyone in the Marine Corps deploys to a combat zone. Especially in their first deployment. 1st Mar Reg left back in sept and our Comm guys on advon were attacked just on the convoy to Dwyer.
So just know that there is always a chance of seeing action outside of Being a Grunt. Just doesn't happen that often.

I remember my recruiter saying 23xx was available, so I am looking into that. I believe it was an Ammo Tech, I read some info but theres not to much info on it.
If anyone can add onto this that would be helpful. Is there a chance for them to see action? I read that they do go out in the field, but I still have to read more.

If you like aviation there's always 6174- Huey crew chief. It was my old MOS but I lost it b/c my eyesight wasn't up to the task. Now I'm a 6114. But the fliers do get to see combat. Granted it's not on the ground but taking a Gau-17 or 16 (or even an m240) to the bad guys I'm sure is just as exhilarating.
Just be ready to mech as much as you fly. And be ready for long work days (in excess of 14 hrs). Especially when you're new- you'll be out on the flight line all day testing the birds up (not just the hueys- the cobras too).
