    Favorite Pictures

Some time ago, I posted here some of my favorite pictures of the war in Iraq. Marines in battle.

But I also have a collection of some outstanding pictures I have found on the Internet and from my own private collection.

Some I have for a time used as my background on my computer, others I just enjoy seeing over and over again. Sophora once posted a cactus flower that I still enjoy seeing over and over again.

This latest one I found today, and I enjoyed the colors and subject, so I though I'll share it with you Jarheads.

I am sure some of you out there have similar pictures that might like to share them.

Hey, this just might be the soft side of a Marine; many of us never talk about. Which reminds me of the time I had this girlfriend that come over to spend the night and she saw the collection of teddy bears I had in my bedroom. I am pretty good at snatching them up in those quarter glass enclosed games, where you get to grab them and bring over to a chute where you win the prize. And, so over the years I had collected a bunch of them.

All sorts of cuddy teddy bears lined up around the bed, with the smallest ones on the bottom and bigger more expensive ones on top.

    She was surprised and said,

“You know Sparrowhawk (I never used my real name when I dated in my younger days), anyways she's says to me, you know Sparrowhawk you having been in battle in the Vietnam War, I always saw you as a combat Marines, hard, and mean and all that, I never imagine that you had a softer side in you, but I can see you are soft hearted at times."

How come you have the collection she asked?

“I’ll tell you in the morning,” I said

So, she spends the night, and in the morning, she asked me, well how was it. Being a good Marine, I said to her,

“You can have one of the teddy bears from the bottom shelf.” LOL

I do remember that cactus pic...that Sophie showed us.....It was beautiful.....

Most folks see us as Marines, and never think we do have another side of us.....
There are some folks that try to full folks but most of us can see right through them......
I enjoy watching and relaxing by the ocean.......One of natures many beauties.........

A buddy of mine send me this pic of his house in Montana. He said he took the picture during a snowstorm and it was one of his best. LOL

Now the deep crevices of the sea, there is where I would like to get some pictures, the wonders there have never been seen by man. Now, that would be a sight to behold.

Roger, the sea is also one of my favorites...

I took this picture a few years back.

The place is a secluded clove just south of San Francisco. Spend the day there writing. In the afternoon had a sandwich, a bottle of wine and enjoyed the sun, and sea...

    Sorry Folks...

While those are all great pictures - and I'll see if I can dredge up a few to scan - Here's a couple that I just can't resist putting in here, seeing how Sparrowhawk titled this "my favorite pictures"

Here's AJ with Loke (pronounced Loo kah - in english it is Loki) - a word to the wise, never name your dog after the Swedish god of mischief!

    Here's another...

Okay, one more - just cuz she's so damn cute! This was a bowl we had put some cereal in for her to eat - of course, she found her own use for the bowl. Don't worry, I'm not going to overload this thread with pictures of her... understand, I could.. but I won't.

    Sparrowhawk,
That isn't the nude beach that is a little bit down the road, off Highway 1, on the way to Half-Moon Bay is it? Wine would go good there. I'm just guessing 'cause I've never been there but I have driven bye there many, many times.

There is a series of coves around that place, if you go down in the morning before the tide comes in, you might not be able to get out in the late afternoon. I had to climb a small tabletop before I came to this open area.

No one was around except a couple cuddled close together but they weren't nude. It was late September, during the week a bit cold so there was no one on the beach and I don't think the couple wanted to be nude, I didn't offer them any of my wine, but I was feeling a bit toasty and I did write a poem about them and gave it to them. LOl

But, I know the place you are talking about, its near Santa Cruz, I found myself at that place one day shortly after I came back from Vietnam in 1969-70.

No one told me it was a nude beach, I think some hippies had just staked it out at that time, but I closed my eyes, so I wouldn't see anyone, or so that they wouldn't be able to see me, forgot which was which. LOL

But, I remember a redhaired, green eyed lady with white flowers in her hair. She was a little older then I was at that time, more mature, or do we call it experienced?

She came over and sat next to me. It was cold then as well and I offered her a drink from a bottle of brandy I had with me. We spend that day together and that evening. I have loved redheads and the beach ever since...LOL
