Got me a new safe....
Santa got me a nice gift card to Dick's, combined with a sale, and now I'm a proud owner of a new 19-Gun safe. She came in at 255lbs -- unloaded.
I've been looking for one for a while; especially since my Mastiff is gone. So, now that I have one, I'm wondering what y'all could tell me about being a new safe owner, hehe. Any tips, tricks - do and don't?

Thats a nice safe there Wookie, what is a that Rifle, with the Bipod, a .308 or .30-06. Pistols look like .40 S&W or .45acp, are the ammo cans full? Great setup brother, I would turn the one pistol around however, muzzle safety.

I could definitely offer a few tips, but I might be too late. My first tip would have been not to take pictures and post it on the net. Second tip would have been brand specific, but any safe is better than no safe. Third, don't let anyone know you have it, including extended family, friends, home repair people, etc.
Check out this link about department store safes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nBhOj...rom=PL&index=4
Also make sure your home owners insurance covers your firearms. Most insurers only cover firearms up to a certain price point, then you're SOL. I had to get a few grand extra to cover my firearms because USAA only covers up to 2500 bucks.

Nice, we went through the safe shopping process for Christmas for my dad (he retired from the police department and used to keep his guns there). Got the same one, from what I can tell. Gotta love Dick's.

Ya, I hear what your saying. But if somebody's gonna come take my gunz, I'm much better protected now; then I was before. It's bolted down to the floor with 8 inch lag bolts, and my alarm company and my insurance company know it's here. A robber doing a simple/routine snatch and run isn't going anywhere with my gunz: for somebody to get my sh+t, now they would need tools, planning, training, and inside scoop. But, I hear ya,,,, the web is the wild west....
Good eyes echo -- I have stuff in those ammo cams. Lots of stuff.
And the pistol pointing towards you is actually a starter pistol, my cousin gave it to me. My Kimber .45 and S&W .357 (in the sock) is on that shelf also.
The long gun with the bipods is my 700PSS in .308
Basically, once I get a shotgun, and a Berretta 92fs -- I'm straight.
Thanks for the well-wishes, Semper Fi.
