I heard about it this morning, a Cpl told me. I didn't realize it was out at French Creek though, that's where my barracks are at. Things are starting to get out of hand.

At least it wasn't a killing spree. Homicides are nothing new in the Corps, but it's still sad to hear about them.
He had been in for 3 years and he is only a Pvt- obviously a sh!tbag.

Law in custody of military authorities
November 08, 2009 6:20 PM
Private Jonathan Law, 21, was placed in custody of authorities at the Camp Lejeune Brig Sunday, for the alleged homicide of Cpl. Joshua E. Hartzell, 22, according to a release from 2d Marine Logistics Group.
Born Oct. 20, 1987, Hartzell, joined the Marine Corps Sept. 5, 2006. He was from Hamilton, Ohio and his personal awards include the Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal, the release said.
Law was moved Saturday night from Pitt County Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for self-inflicted wounds, to the brig, according to the release.
Law was a supply administration clerk assigned to 2nd Supply Battalion, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force and Camp Lejeune. Hartzell was an electro-optical ordnance repairer with 2nd Maintenance Battalion also in 2nd Marine Logistics Group.
Law was from Clark County, Nev. and joined the Marine Corps Aug. 15, 2006, according to the release. Law deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from August 2007 to March 2008. His awards include the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Appropriate charges are pending, the release said. The homicide is under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigation.

Family says slain Marine loved the Corps
Colleague charged with murder in Friday death
November 09, 2009 6:32 PM

Family and friends say a Marine beat to death aboard Camp Lejeune early Friday was an outdoorsman who loved being in the Corps.
Cpl. Joshua Hartzell, 22, of Hamilton, Ohio, is remembered by loved ones as a kind-hearted friend who would help anybody, his sister Rebecca Lumpkin said.
“Josh was special,” she said. “Everyone who knew Josh knew that.”
The man accused of killing Hartzell, Pvt. Jonathan Law, 21, has been charged with murder and is being held in the Camp Lejeune Brig.
Hartzell’s family was still reeling Monday by the news Hartzell was gone. Family described Hartzell as a true outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. He wrestled for his high school varsity team.
“He loved being a Marine,” Lumpkin said.
Hartzell’s girlfriend, Ashley Kieswether, told The Daily News she was on the phone with Hartzell late Thursday night and heard shouting and a scuffle — then the phone went dead.
“He hasn’t answered all morning, none of his friends have seen him and I can’t get up with his family,” she said frantically Friday morning. When word began to circulate that a Marine in the 2nd Marine Logistics Group had been killed, Kieswether contacted The Daily News by phone from Ohio looking for help in determining whether Hartzell was the victim.
Kieswether’s fears that her boyfriend was dead became reality when she was officially informed Friday night.
“He was the sweetest person,” she said of Hartzell. “He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Law was previously on suicide watch and was previously involved in alleged assault, a member of the 2nd MLG told The Daily News.
Around 1 a.m. Friday, Camp Lejeune Provost Marshals responded to a disturbance at the French Creek barracks. They found “Law with apparent self-inflicted wounds and Hartzell’s body in the woods across the street,” Capt. Timothy Patrick said in a Monday a press release.
“An initial autopsy completed Saturday by the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology indicated that Hartzell died from blunt force trauma to the head,” the release states.
Law, originally from Clark County, Nev., was initially transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital to be treated for self-inflicted wounds Friday. He was remanded to the brig Saturday night by agents with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
A supply clerk with 2nd Supply Battalion, Law joined the Marine Corps in 2006. His awards include the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
Hartzell was an electro-optical ordnance repairer with 2nd Maintenance Battalion. He joined the Marine Corps in 2006. His awards include the Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

I found something I had been looking awhile for, I hope you enjoy
The Death of Santa Claus
“Well, there’s strange things done
‘Neath the Vietnamese Sun
But the time that locked my jaws
Was the night “neath the moon when the third platoon Gunned down Santa Claus.
Well it started off right, just an ordinary night
We had to spend in the dirt.
Security was out, three sixty about,
With fifty-percent alert.
We had eighty-ones and naval guns,
The tanks were track to track.
An Ontos or so and an arty FO
With barrages back to back.
I froze where I stood, ‘cause out of the wood,
Eight horses came running along.
This may sound corny, but them mustangs were horny,
“My God!” I thought, “Mounted Viet Cong!”
He was coming our way in what looked like a sleigh,
But then you never know what they’ll use.
The flares were tripped, and the SIDs had flipped,
And the TIPSY blew a fuse.
We let him get close, and then yelled, “Who goes?”
Like they do in the movie show.
And the answer we got, believe it or not,
Was a hearty “Ho, Ho, Ho.”
Now those troops of mine, they’d seen some time,
And we’d done some things back-asswards.
They may be thick, but I’ll tell you a trick,
They knew THAT wasn’t the password!
The eighty-ones soared, and the nineties roared, The naval guns raised some hell.
A bright red flare flew threw the air,
And we fired our FPL.
I’ll give him guts, but that guy was nuts,
Or I’m a no good liar.
He dropped like a stone in the killing zone,
And I passed the word, “Cease Fire!”
I went out and took a real good look,
My memory started to race.
My mind plays games when it comes to names,
But I never forget a face.
He was dressed all in red and he looked well fed,
He was older than most I’d seen.
He looked right weird with that long white beard,
And them stumps where his legs had been.
He hadn’t quite died when I reached his side,
But the end was clearly in sight.
I knelt down low and he said real slow,
“Merry Christmas, and to all a good night!”
We should have known our “cool” was blown,
When the light in the east we seen.
But it looked like flares, and it couldn’t be theirs,
Or the damned things would have been green!
So I picked up the hook with a voice that shook,
And said “Gimme the Six and quick.”
“Colonel,” I said “Hang onto your head,
We just greased old Saint Nick.”
Now the ol’ Man’s cool, he’s nobody’s fool,
Right off he knew the word.
If this got out, there’d be no doubt,
He wouldn’t be making his “bird.”
“Just get him up here and we’ll play it by ear,
Make sure of the Med-Evac tag,
Dismantle that sleigh, drive them reindeer away,
And bury that g**damn bag.”
Now by and by the kids may cry,
‘Cause there’s nothing under the tree,
But the word just came back from FMF PAC,
That Santa had gone VC.
Well, there’s strange things done
‘Neath the Vietnamese Sun,
But the time that locked my jaws,
Was that night ‘neath the Moon when the third platoon,
Gunned down Santa Claus.
