We are able to get every warfare device the Nav has. Surface, Air, Sub, SAR, Trident, etc. etc. That was the reason we were never allowed our own warfare device. I'm gald the HM has been recognized with this device.

Hey Doc's.... we are working on custom ring designs for our Corpsman, below attached is the current design. What other design would you like to see be made available for you ?

We are Marines (USMC Veterans) who are making Marine Corps Rings and Jewelry.

thought I would ask what you would like to have made available, design, suggestions.

    Semper Fidelis.

    Doc's Ring design

I drew a design that looks pretty good, with the Corpsman's Caduceus (see picture) superimposed in gold on the silver Eagle, Globe and Anchor. The eagle was shared by the two symbols and the staff ran top to bottom across te globe with the snakes. Does that make sense?
Otherwise the regular EGA ring with a Caduceus on one side and "DOC" on the other would be cool, too. But, I do like the one with the FMF badge.

    Doc,

if you have time, draw it up and fax to 303-233-1468. Be glad to take a look at the idea and see how we can make it.

This is what I had in mind.

But I would want the eagle, staff and serpents in gold metal and the remainder of the ring in nickle silver. On the sides you could put the Corpsman's rank on one side and "FMF" on the other, similar to rank insignia on the USMC rings.

Hey Doc, we will work this idea and see what we can come up with in a ring design. Just returned home from Oregon, family health issues.

We are having a Cyber Weekend Sale (versus only Monday) on many items on our online store. http://www.marinecorpsrings.com

As soon as we get the ring design completed, will post here for you.

    Semper Fidelis and Merry Christmas!

The DD-215 is an addendum to your 214. An additional page if you will with updates to the 214. For instance you can apply for a 215 if you later discover that a unit you were in rates a PUC or whatever but it never made it on to the 214. You can get an update called a DD-215. You do so by filling out a SF-180 and sending it in. There is a link on this site that will walk you through the process.

That is pretty awesome! I'm glad they are doing something to make the Corpsman more uniquely identified. They deserve it. Oorah, and Semper FI!

18 Months after my Navy enlistment it was time to leave Bremerton. I was glad. I didn't join up to be spending time in a hospital. I called my detailer and requested any ship billet on a WestPac as a FMF Doc. "Don't have one". I was dismayed. I joined the Navy with the specific intention of being a Marine Corps DOC. I asked if he had a regular corpsman billet on a WestPac ship. "Don't have one". I said "What the hell!" "Put me with any Marine Corps unit on the west coast". He said "Okay, you can go to Bridgeport". Cool with me. I went to FMSS, went on to Bridgeport, CA.

I spent 3 years in Bridgeport. I did every PFT and every command run or function. When I asked the Sgt Maj, then the C.O. about qualifying for FMF rating I was told, Sorry. You are assigned to NavHosp Pendleton, not a Marine Corps billet.

Right when I was coming up for re-enlistment I got my esophagus torn open by an Air Force doctor. I was told I was looking at just getting out or being put out on a medical.

When 9-11 happened I was 5 months from ending my IRR obligation. I tried to re-up but was told that because of my disability rating that I would have to give up my entitlements. I was willing to do it but with two Devil Pups and one on the way, my wife wasn't having any part of it.

I am really tweaked that I never got that FMF designation. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. Not even my wife (who is a 10 year Marine Sgt) seems to understand. Maybe children do that to a woman.
