    Have Some Questions

Hello Marines. Im shipping to Parris Island this coming up Sunday. Since joining DEP i have not had any major issues, other than minor heel issues from running (tendonitis), sore knees, and my latest problem has been my shoulder. Went to the doctor today and he said that i'm fine to go to bootcamp that i just over-used it this last week. Now my question is do i need to let MEPs know when i arrive there on Monday considering they were all minor, nothing more than resting for a week or so and being back on my feet? Will any of these require any waivers? Thank you for your help.

If its a temporary thing for you then why would you need to bring it up? Now if it's a long term injury that effects your training thats another story. The truth is...we all have aches and pains. If you can effectivly do your job without missing training due to injuries i would see it being no problem. Hope that helps.

Now what happens if lets say my shoulder flares up again and i need some kind of medical attention, would i get in trouble because i didnt tell MEPs or anybody at the MCRD when i arrived? I'm really just trying to cover my butt because i'd like to make this a career for me and my wife without any stupid issues that could have been avoided.

If you're just having aches and pains, I wouldn't sweat it, because you'll have aches and pains in Recruit Training. If you are unsure of something, you should discuss it immediately with your NCOIC, who I happen to know... Good luck and S/F

Well you went to the doctor and he said you were good to go for boot camp correct? If he thought you were not able to physically handle what you will be doing he would of gave you a no go. To be honest...if you bring it up at MEPS, which im not telling you shouldn't do...your date may be pushed back...If you think it's a problem even though your doc said you were fine then you can bring it up at MEPS...they will check it out and if they say your fine then your fine...your ass is covered...but they may send you to a doctor again to get it checked out. If they can't get you to a specialist within your time of shipping...your date is going to be pushed back weeks to even months..depending on if they can get you an early date to the doc.

I assume you're speaking of GySgt. Davis? He's a good guy. Pretty funny at times I might add. LOL

I really dont think anything that any of the minor issues i've had while in DEP are at all serious or threatening, i guess i'm just trying to keep myself out of trouble. Im gonna talk with him in the morning and see what he says. Thanks again for the help.

Drink water, take motrin, stay motivated.

If that fails request permission to visit the BAS.

BAS??? Not sure what that means.

Advice taken. I do my best to drink at least a gallon of water a day, eat right, and be as healthy as possible.

    Battalion Aid Station.

Use your better judgement... failing that use the Drill Instructor's better judgement. Don't aggravate the problem between now and then. Go for a swim, nice and relaxing, good stretch, refreshing, you can even drownproof yourself.

Thanks for the advice! Hopefully I will have no issues when I arrive at the MCRD next week. Like I said before, thanks for all the help.

Take Motrine, drink water, and change your socks. The cure for any disease!

pfft, BAS.. My SDI from Golf Company told us they love to diagnose people with URI (Upper Respiratory Chest Infections). The running joke was you could go in there with something other than a URI, such as pink eye, etc, and come out with a diagnosis of a URI.

Good luck to you at boot camp. I look forward to seeing you back on here as a Marine once you return home. Never give up, it's all mental!

it's not just golf company.... if you have certain diseases you'll get quarantined and if you miss enough training you get recycled... if you're broken you get recycled...

many times if it's not threatening they ask if it's actually what you're feeling or is it URI... guess why the docs aren't charged for false exams....

I hope you starting to see the light.

though in the case of the pink eye, the recruit will have his rack moved away from everyone else for a week and will shower alone... in some cases will be locked in the whiskey locker.

funny story, that happened to a kid who couldn't quite get the drill right on the left right left on the change step... he ended up swinging his arms in the same direction as his feet... so they locked him up in the whiskey locker and adjusted their roster for final drill so we had 100% of everyone... hahahah stanovic!!!!!!!!!!
