    Question Prescriptions

I AM OUT OF WORK AND TAKE 2 SEPERATE MEDICATIONS.I'M NOT DISABLED.CAN I GET HELP THROUGH THE VA FOR MY MEDS?

I think so, but you need to go to the local VA hospital and go through some process etc. I believe that what you pay for the meds is dependent on your income.

Yes you can and the most you would have to pay for a perscription is $7.00. Usually it takes about two months for
    you aplication to be processed.

    THE REAL SCOOP:
You need to take your DD214 to the VA and apply for health benefits. You wil then get an ID card and a clinic assignment.
You then schedule an appointment for that clinic to get a primary care taker. You see that person, they prescribe the meds you need and you pay a copay of $7.00 depending on the type of prescription. Some name brands are more expensive. They will also schedule appointments with specialists if need be.

Also, if you tell the VA you have no other health coverage, they will not bill any other insuance company. (wink, wink).

CAS, I am going through this same thing right now, was first turned down as a "Priority Group 8 " I was not eligible because I made too much money last year. When I told them that "that was last year, this year I have been on short term disibility I was told I had to write an appeal and let it go up the channels. My meds run out this week, and I have been told if the VA sees me it will cost me $200. 00 the "humanitiarn" rate. H*ll if I had $200.00 I'd put it towards my medications!

Get a veterans' service representative ASAP. You need to call DAV OR VFW or any other at the regional office. Ask for your appeal to be expedited and you have a financial hardship. There are many avenues to try: Tell the VA you no longer have health coverage.(which you don't). Try to get service connection for a disabilty.
