    MOS 0231 question and MEPs.

My other post got deleted. I have filled out the profile and I hope I have done it correctly.

I would like to introduce myself, my name is Edward Chang and I DEP'ed in about a couple months ago, I believe since March. I will be shipping out for Boot Camp in San Diego, California on 090817. I was able to qualify for the DD program since I was able to meet the requirements when I took my ASVAB. I was also able to have the choice to take a language such as Korean or Farsi due to my scores on the DLAB.

Now on to my question. on 090813 (today) I was at the MEPs station going over our packets with the MSGT in charge of the poolees and realized that half of my forms and what not (mostly forms from the SF-86) were not mine. My name was on the folder but the social security was not. I spent the last 4 hours at MEPs going over the packet and making sure all my forms are in check and just ended up essentially doing a whole new one.

For my background check, I was told that any kind of involvement with law enforcement must be told to the recruiters. Now I have told both my recruiter and the liason office when I first DEP'ed in about the incident in which I was arrested and held in jail for the mandatory 72 hours, and also have documents from my county's Superior Court being stamped and signed saying that no charges have been filed/will be filed. But I was told to right a statement today so that just in case something does come up, I would have it in my folder stating that I have been honest.

With that information, about my arrest and my packets getting all messed up, will that bring up any red flags and deny me my clearance for my MOS and also is it possible for my paper work to get lost and I won't have to privilege to go to learn a new language? The last question that I have is regarding what other forms I must fill out before I am granted a clearance and when will I be likely to fill out those forms (I have read that an EPSQ is required, but I haven't filled out one IIRC.) I really don't want to miss anything that will delay me getting into my MOS and am nervous about going through all that training for Intel and have to switch it because I haven't or got DQ'ed my clearance required.

Also if I was denied a clearance, what kind of MOS would I most likely be reassigned to? Will it be similar to the field that I chose? Or will it be something completely random such as a cook or a supply clerk. I am proud that I will have the opportunity to become one of the few and proud Marines and doing jobs not many have an opportunity to do in life, honestly no offense to the cooks out there, but I can be a cook anywhere.

Thank you for your time and patience.

    First, chill out.

Second, have you fixed the problem? If so, there is nothing to worry about.

Third, if you haven't fixed the problem, what's being done to fix the problem?

Fourth, what were you arrested for, and why? You say you weren't charged but held for 'the mandatory 72 hours'. WTF, over? That's a new one on me. That might very well affect you, but no one here is a mindreader, including me, so more information is required.

I have fixed the problem. Essentially there was no problem. I was arrested because I was driving up on highway 5 from LA to San Francisco. I was driving with 3 other people.
I fell asleep on the wheel (this was 3 years ago) and had a single car accident. Two were killed. I was arrested because they thought it was caused by a DUI. You can be arrested but if you aren't charged with anything in those 3 days, you have to be released until they can gather more evidence to charge you at a later date.

I had my lawyer check up on it from time to time and he has given me the clear that no charges will be filed or were ever filed. I was cleared of the DUI because I wasn't intoxicated. It was just a tragic accident that unfortunately happened to me.

Negligent driving? Good that you weren't drinking.

For this MOS that is going to be one you will have to get used to explaining, in great and exacting detail, in writing, with documentation, several times over.

However, because you were not charged, while it is certainly going to be an issue, I would say it's not an insurmountable one.

If you have fixed all the remaining paperwork, then it sounds like you are good to go.

Sir, thank you very much for your prompt response.

I apologize for sounding like I am nagging, but do you have any idea on when I
am or was supposed if I haven't already filled out the other forms for the clearance? In the other threads people have stated they filled out an EPSQ some did it during MEPs others have done it after doing a lateral move, but what about us new poolees that will be going to Boot Camp?

    Thank you again.

You can do it any time, you may even end up doing it in Recruit training. It really depends on how 'on the ball' your recruiter is. But sometimes, doing it later is better, since there isn't a 'gap' in the time you submitted it til the time they start looking into it. The whole process can take up to a year once they get started, depending on their backlog.

    Thank you very much again!

I really thought I was missing some forms because my recruiter, though he's a good person and I generally like him and I also know his wife personally, he's been kinda sketchy with information. He told me I would get all these things or incentives but when it came down to it, he hasn't put the paper work down and I actually had to talk to the MSGT. and the admins to get it on my contract, so I wouldn't really be surprised that he might have forgotten something.

    Again thank you!

So going through some stuff in my desk, I came upon a 10 page SF 86 where it asking me my previous address and work and references. Now I wasn't told to fill this out. I thought I did fill out a form with SF-86 on it, but it was only 5 pages or less. Will I need to fill this out and turn it in before I ship out or will I be able to fill out this form during training, because if its the latter, then I will definitely go ahead and turn it in tomorrow at or on Saturday at the latest.
