    Best friends from Rockaway salute

    Best friends Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Mike Coad and Navy Petty Officer, 2nd Class Aaron Navratil, saluted each other at the Rockaway Borough memorial on Main Street next to the library on Saturday, Jan. 3. The two young men grew up in the borough and went to school together, graduating from Morris Hills High School. Coad completed Officer Training school for the Marines on Dec. 12, 2008. He is back in Quantico, Va. for further warfare training. Navratil enlisted in the Navy upon graduation from Morris Hills in 2004 and is an SK (Store Keeper) currently based in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
