    I got a real dumb question, alright so most of my questions have been dumb irregardless, what does gunny mean? I kept seeing it in some of the stickies.

    Keep in mind you shouldn't call a Gunnery Sgt. Gunny unless you know it's ok with them, ie. you ask them, at least that's what I've been told.

    Haha I bet it would, I'm sure if a Gunnery Sgt wanted recruits to refer to them as anything but their title they'd tell us, otherwise its Gunnery Sgt to me. Or rather should it be Ma'am Gunnery Sgt Ma'am? I don't know the protocal for addressing rank, besides in boot camp not to speak unless spoken to, if that's even accurate.

    Oh no, no, no...in boot camp everyone is "sir" or "ma'am", even the civvies in the chow hall.

    Oh, so you don't have to throw title in everytime you speak with someone? Sir/Ma'am is fine for all instances?
