    Talking Vietnam The Past!

    Hey Doc!

will you be joining us at the group! We can always use a Doc! I know what you mean about many Vietnam Vets not wanting to talk about the past. I myself didn't join any Vietnam forum groups till about three years ago.

What I found is that most of us still don't talk about the negative details of our combat experiences. We mostly talk about the funny and dumb stuff, or remembering a friend, or the environment.

For me being able to share being there with other Vets is a positive for me. I was a squad leader from day one at age 18. I joined the Corps and went to boot camp 56 days after my 17th birthday. Because I could'nt go to Vietnam till I was 18, I was a corporal before I got there and so I was a squad leader from day one till the day I was medivaced out for the second time.

I served from 1970 till 1971 with Delta 1/7 at LZ Baldy, Lima 3/5 at hill 34, and Golf 2/1 at Marble Mountain. When I talk about the funny and dumb things that happened in Nam I remeber the Marines I served with with a laugh and sometimes a tear.

I have met many a Vietnam Combat Vet and just talked about what years we were there, MOS and such and had to say no more. But usually all the funny and dumb stuff came up.

Anyway Doc, thanks for your service and welcome home Bro!

    Semper Fi!
