CFT Yesterday
Wow I had an awesome day yesterday at my poolee function. We had all the local poolees and wannabees at this middle school football field and we ran the CFT. The thing that sucked was that it was so cold though but we ran 2 laps around the track [my time was 3:11 but woulda been better if it was warmer], we did the ammo can lift for 45 reps which was pretty easy, and then the obstacle course. The obstacle course was tough because I'm 230 pounds and the guy I dragged and carried on my shoulders was 270. But my time was 2:19.
After we got done with that we went to the local shooting range and shot an M16 and SAW. It was great.
Anyone else ever do this?

What did you all run in, boots or running shoes?

Damn dude, that sounds way better than my first poolee function. All we did was do PT and play football... not even tackle football either.

2:19? That seems a little fast to me. What did you guys do on the CFT course? With a 2:19 Im guessing it wasn't everything, but I could be wrong. Normally its not only 45 lifts. I think 41 is the min, and 99 is the max. Don't quote me on that one though.
At least there being active with you though. Showing you guys things you'll be doing in the future.

45 ammo can minutes is the min. And 2:19 for the movement under fire is a normal time. Isn't too fast. It is fast, but doable. Last time I ran it, I did 2:11. And that was my 5th time running it that day. I ran the cft for my detachment.

I didn't know you could shoot as a poolee. Where did you shoot anyway? A range, out in the middle of nowhere, or what?

Last April, a bunch of RSS's here in North Carolina met up at Camp Geiger and all the poolees got to fire the simulated weapons. Granted, it wasn't real ammo, but it was the closest thing you can get to real. Great experience!

We didn't get to shoot them, but Saturday our recruiters took us to the National Guard base near our recruiting station and we got to field strip the M-16, and they showed us how to field strip the M249 SAW and we got to check out the Humvee. One of the better Pool Functions we've had.

Yea the M-16's where pretty badass. We had some mini-competetions to see who could dissemble/assemble them the fastest. Then it was funny to watch the national guard try to get into formation, dress right etc. etc. But they definatly need to learn on how to clean their rifles because they were nasty

No sh*t they were nasty. I took the bolt out and my hands got covered in carbon or whatever it is. Also when LCpl. Webber tried to strip the SAW, he had trouble because it was so nasty. Other than that it was awesome.

Funny about the nastiness. Here's a true story.
I'm in Iraq right now, and sitting to my left is a Navy 2nd class Petty Officer and on my right is a US Army Specialist.
I don't see any poolees.
Until I do, I don't want to hear anymore "The Army is nasty" talk out of any of your mouths, check?
Don't worry, I used to bash the Army too, I would be a liar to tell you as a poolee I didn't. But they're fighting right next to us, we help them out, they help us out. Some civilian sitting at home has no right to call anyone wearing a uniform nasty.

That's not what I meant, not in the least. I was just saying the weapons we were using were dirty, not the Army its self. And not all the weapons were dirty, just the one I happened to be using. I definitely worded that wrong.
