Okay, this one looks too dam' cool! I found a couple of references to the program floating around, this writeup from Wired seems pretty complete. The references I had time to read do seem to check out, so I think this one is probably coming down the road.

The toys just get better and badder all the time, don't they?

To quote a short bit from Wired:

These are hollow spheres, made of rubberized rocket fuel; when ignited, they propel themselves around at random at high speed, bouncing off the walls and breaking through doors, turning the entire building into an inferno. The makers call them "kinetic fireball incendiaries."
