Women Marines in 1984
When I went through boot camp, my Mom kept all of the letters I sent home, pictures she had taken at graduation day and Liberty Day, program from the Emblem Ceremony, etc and started a picture album. Over the years while I was AD, a lot of the pictures I took went it.
Anyway...............I never was into this scrapbooking thing but, a few months back I went into Michael's (a local craft store) and found this bada$$ leather scrapbook with a HUGE Marine Corps Emblem on it. As I was going through what I was going to put in it (remember, I haven't looked at any of this stuff in over 20 years) I came across the program for the Emblem Ceremony. While reading through it, I found this..............................
Women Marines
We wear our uniforms with pride,
Our banner proudly bear;
We are well trained, true and tried,
A proud tradition share.
We walk with patriotic grace,
Our country’s far flung strands;
Serve freedom in both time and space,
Obey her high commands.
We will release our men to fight,
In air, on land and sea;
We labor to increase their might,
To crush the enemy.
Women Marine, our country’s best,
We proudly serve the brave;
Whatever be our country’s test,
The Stars and Stripes shall wave.

Thought you guys would get a kick out that. No offense to my (much) younger Sisters - that's just the way it was 24 years ago.
OH! The scrapbook turned out awesome as hell! Brought back a lot of memories.

Our grip montana!
Nah..................our purpose was to take the places some of you guys held (office work, maintenance work, logistical stuff) so that ya'll could get out there and fight. Trust me, I had no problem serving in the rear even if it was on the Air side. Somebody had to fix them bomb racks so they would work properly and drop bombs when they were supposed to, you know?

And 38 years ago we would not have made it without you! I never met a WM that I did not respect, then or now.
