Off to Parris Island
My bags are packed and I'm ready to go
Today my son will finish the cruicble. We fly down to SC on Wednesday and then do Family day on Thursday. We watch him become a Marine on Friday.
Funny thing is the only thing I have worried about is him not eating. My boy is a big eater, loves food. He's 18 and 6'4. Do they do the entire cruible without eating or sleeping or do they get minamal amounts of both?
I have packed paper goods for a picnic. I heard the food lines are long down there. So we are going to go to the grocery store and buy a cooler and going to pack up a picnic lunch for Family day.
I'm so excited, I just can't hide it
I can't wait to give that big o'le boy a huge mama bear hug.

The Crucible is a 54-hour endurance test, with 2.5 MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat), and 8 hours of sleep.

Have a safe trip down here! Family Day on the Island is really exciting, even for those of us who don't have recruits graduating. The sense of pride is overwhelming & infectious. Congrats to your son!

Thanks everybody.
Keith did you get the pizza on the Island? Did you order it for a certain time? I heard even the pizza place has a long line. Can you order from the outside and have delevery?

With all of the excitement on Family Day, we forgot to eat!! We were just so happy to see our new Marine and be able to spend the day with him and hear all of the stories he had to tell. We ended up rushing him thru Subway so he could scarf down a sub and got him back with 20 minutes to spare. As Marinemama said, bring lots of Kleenex, you are going to need it. Congratulations to your son!

Absolutely - congratulations on raising a Marine!
Good idea on the picnic - my kid rushed us through food so he could get to the exchange and run up a majorly large tab on my credit card. The dinner at the "O" Club for the families was also great - altho I must admit that Chris was really careful about food and mannders and the rill Instructors were also preseny, lol.

Congratulations to you and yours, Mame. Enjoy your time with your son and his fellow Marines.
After all is said and done be sure that you have fresh batteries for either your camera or camcorder.
Adios for now.

Outstanding
The world is a little safer with one more US Marine in the World
One of my proudest days of my life. If you can't be a Marine, I guess being a Marine Corps parent is the next best thing!
