What to take to boot camp.

This is what my recruiter told me to take to boot camp.
    1. My Social Security Card.
    2. His buisness card.
    3. $10 or less in cash for snacks and drinks before you get there.

This is what my recruiter told me to take and nothing else. Dont pack a bag full of crap. What you are wearing is enough. Also dont wear anything with the Marine Corps anywear on it. You can also take eyeglasses, prescription meds, and anything religous with you. He told us all this after we watched Ears Open. Eyeballs Click. We saw people with packed bags and Marine Corps t-shirts all over the place when they were getting off the bus. He told us that this can be a very bad idea. I would appreciate it if any Marines would add to this if I missed something.

You can take a small bible, bring small pictures of family/friends, might want to bring little more than 10$ no more then 20$. I have seen people bring their debt card, but i wouldn't recommend it. You can't use it anywhere. They give you get $200 card(cant remember that cards name) but you use that when you go to PX to buy things you need. You can have a calling card, i didnt have one when i first made my phone call, and had to borrow someone elses card. Their is a box to buy calling cards next to the phones in MCRD SD, so you might want to save $10. I didn't have any money to buy a card.

No debit card? Wouldnt you need one to set up your direct deposit if you already have a debit accout? I read somewhere that you can set one up when you get there or bring your own records if you have one already. Let me know if what I read was wrong.

What to bring.......Nothing Uncle Sam will give you everything you need....

I went with the clothes on my back and spent my last $5.00 at the airport, so when I arrived all I had was an empty wallet with a list of my family's addresses and that was it.

I know that the CRUCIFIX necklace is allowed in the Fleet, but I don't think I would take one to Boot camp, but if you do and they don't want you to keep it, they will store it for you with all your other civilian stuff.

We had a poolee function on Saturday and one of the poolees decided it was a good idea to get the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor tattooed on his shoulder before he left for boot.
