time frame
Is there a time frame of when a medal can be added to your DD-214?
Or, when the board will comment on a request?

Jim, I don't know if there is an "official" deadline, but in my case Naval Records, St. Louis, added the AFEM to my DD214 -via the DD215- after 49 years, 9 months. (The "deeds" where done August to January 1958) Based on my experience, looks like you have some time, Brother!!LMAO

Just write to them or go on the web site. I just was awarded my CAR, Presidential unit citation,Vietnamese Cross of Gallentry and Civial action medals. They will send you a form with ribbons and medals awarded and also will send you the medals if they have them in stock. This takes about 4-6 weeks for the process to work. It is called The Application for correction of military records Form # 0704-0003. I received my awards for years after my discharge.

Had some issues updated also
NMUC was awarded to 3/6 after my EAS for GitMo in 79.
Sea Service award was retro active back to Aug 74 once approved in the 80's.
I think I filled out an SR180, or some form. Took a few months.
