Guranteed Jobs...

Are there actually some MOS's the Marine Corps can guarantee (other that the Reserves)? The Army is always boasting on how they can guarantee your job on the computer and finalize everything before you even go to MEPS...are they just doing some B.S.? Not that it matters to me ( the Corps is already sending me to school and paying for it, for a commission) but I was just wondering if it's true that the Marine Corps won't gurantee you a job and if so why not change it so that it's more appealing for recruiting purposes? Unfortunately this is one significant factor that is drawing my buddie more towards the Army rather than the Corps. Just wanted to know your opinions Devil Dogs.

Because The Corps doesn't need to, you want a guarantee job? Every Marine a rifleman. The Corps is alot smaller so its needs outway the wants of its members. You can be guaranteed a field such as engineer, mp, infantry. But thats it.

Think about how much money the army is throwing at people and they still can't meet there enlistment goal, there ranks are hemraging to better civillian jobs. The USMC on the other hand has consistantly met there goals and has a high re-enlistment rate. So he can take the blood money and his guaranteed job but... think about it there has to be a reason that The Marines have no problems in that sector.

Pretty simple really. If everyone got to pick their jobs we'd have a ton of 0311s, MPs and Crash, Fire, Rescue guys but not have many cooks, supply clerks, or admin types. They have to do what is needed to get people into positions that need filling. In all honesty, I think it is pretty dang nice of them to let you pick a field.

Roger that Lcpl ZSKI! The Army throws a TON of money at..well everything. It's just hard for me to understand why the Marine Corps isn't a no brainer decision for everyone lol but I guess it wouldnt be The Few The Proud if everyone felt that way.

It takes a different breed of person to want to be in the Marines. We good get press- so that helps. But, when people are able to see the downsides of the Corps, such as insufficient funding and ofter equipment that isn't new and shiny, then it starts to make some people question whether the Marine Corps is the place for them or not. Honestly, if they are wondering- then it isn't.

new Point of view.... the army gives jobs before meps because they aren't "ranked" openings.... they have specialists, and those specialist can be promoted to e-9... and the TO for those jobs require what? specialists... not a rank... so if I can give this job to anybody and fill them in almost every post then I can use it as a recruiting tool.....

Marine Corps, I can Guarantee you will sweat, bleed, burn and cry all before you become a Marine.... and you'll have a sweet uniform to goto the Ball every year (Now that it's issued!!!! Damn you General Jones!!!!).
