    Don't forget LM GAS

    The characteristics of your M16

    Lightweight
    Magazine fed
    Gas operated
    Air cooled
    Shoulder fired weapon

Is the Corps still using the M16A2, or have they converted to the M16A4? I think the acronym should still hold for the new model.

The change is in process. Grunts should all have the A4 by now, support units should be changing in the near future if they haven't by now already.

I don't know if this is applicable to boot camp, but at OCS we had to know

    BAMCIS

    SALUTE

    OSMEAC

    METT-T

If an enlisted Marine would chime in and tell me if that is pertinant knowledge, I would be more than happy to explain.

That is all good stuff- but I don't remember if they covered all of it in boot camp or if some of it came later.

SALUTE is in the guide book so most likely, I'm just trying to concentrate on the essential basic things, once I have those learned I am going to really work on everything else and try to know as much information as possible so I can some what prepare myself at least for this kind of stuff.

Yes we had to learn all those in boot camp.

    We also had:

The 3 types of bleeding: VAC- Venous, Arterial, Capillary

There's a few more first aid ones, but I don't remember off the top of my head.

There's a whole lot more, no need to stress over the knowledge, they will tell you what they are, and you'll just start sounding them off.

BAMCIS Begin the planning, Arrange for reconnaissance, Make reconnaissance, Complete the planning, Issue the order, Supervise

SMEAC Situation, Mission, Execution, Administration, Command

Have to love boards- that stuff stays with you for a LONG time.
