    Post Another Question

Greetings, As from the past post that I asked was about being a preacher or a chaplin in the Marine corps and they say it mostly navy. Well I've checked it out and yeah I do want to become a chaplin but I would also say to be a Marine so is there anything in the Middle maybe. And if not I also believe in thou shall not kill. I beleve that but if the time comes to it I'll do my duty. I'm just wondering if there is a MOS out there that would be perfect for me.

Thanks for your help and I know I'm going to get some crap with the thou shall not kill part but I'm here to gain knowledge about the Marines and to join the Marines. I'm just trying to find a middle point sort of speak.

    Thank you

You are one confused individual!!! No there is nothing in between; either go into the Navy as a Chaplain (officer) or Chaplain's assistant (enlisted).

As for 'thou shall not kill' it refers to murder - you need to learn the Old Testament better. Secondly, if you have any doubts do not enlist in the USMC.

You need to fill out your profile, kid. Now.

There is nothing in the middle. Marines do not have chaplains- period. However, there are many Navy Chaplains that were in the Marine Corps earlier in their life. If you really want both, then do both. (I've posted before it is something I have considered and still might do.)

"thou shalt not kill" isn't nearly as cut and dried as you're making it out to be. After the law was given to Moses, God sent the Israelites into battle many times. Reading the book of Joshua pounds the point home pretty quickly that killing in battle isn't forbidden by the law.

You need to address this question to your recruiter...if you have one yet! They'll tell you the exact same thing we are...there's NOTHING IN BETWEEN!! Either...or...that's it. And like the Gunny stated...if you have doubts, you don't belong in the Corps!!!

    Amen.

To further add, the RP's (Religious Program Specialists) are ALSO navy.

The quote 'Thou shall not kill' is incorrect. The actual wording reads, "Thou shalt not commit murder".

    Thus, the difference.

Lastly, learn to either spell, or use a frakkin dictionary! Otherwise, expect a fire mission directly on your pos.

Matter of fact, with no profile, I anticipate rounds downrange at any time. Fill it out, or go away.

The question about Chaplain & Marine was answered in depth about a week ago. You can re-word it anyway you want but the answers will remain the same.

When you enlist and if you do,I would do so soul searching and find out if this is the line of work you want to do. As you have been told or will read on this site "Every Marine is a rifleman" regardless of your MOS.

This basically means that whether you are a grunt, air winger or pogue. If one is ordered to a hot zone...and the situation arises you may called upon to use deadly force to protect yourself or your comrades. Can you kill a man or woman in a hostile enviroment to save life or limb of your comrades? If the answer is NO or you are wavering take time to speak to another recruiter. If the answer is an honest YES,you may have problems further down the trail...but,that's life!

When bullets or rounds are firing down range...remember bullets and rounds are firing back into your position. That is not the time to declare that you are a CO and this life is not for you! You can call upon Jesus and there is nothing wrong with that and the beliefs. However to ere on the side of caution I would tell you to call on your God and Jesus before you sign any Marine Corps papers to enlist and find out that you are going to be deployed and declare that this way of life is not for you. It will save you some heartaches and hassle from your command and superiors.

There are plenty of Marines from the past and the present that have NO problem with serving their GOD and the CIC at the same time and you may be one of them. Prioritize what you want and you have been told what you can do and make the decision. Rewording a question like this you may have a good chance of landing a job in the media. The answer will be the same.

As far as the commandment of,"Thou Shalt Not Kill" this I agree is,"Thou Shalt Not Murder" a theologian will debate this with you to the end of time and you will receive a different answer from each theological seminar or debate.
