IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. (AP) -- A 21-year-old Rochester-area Marine has died in Iraq.

Family members say Corporal Reynold Armand, of Irondequoit, died Tuesday in Fallujah.

Details of his death were unavailable.

Relatives said Armand had little to say about his time in Iraq, but he told them that most Iraqi civilians he encountered were very nice.

His mother, Alma Armand, told the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle: "We used to send him a lot of candy. He would pass it out."

Armand sought parental permission that allowed him to enter the Marines before he turned 18. In the military he was in Virginia, California and North Carolina. He was sent to Iraq in January.
