Thread: Question.

DEP today is different from DEP when i was in it from Oct 66 to Feb 67. Today the program is there to delay entry for up to a year to teach you study habits, nutrition and otherwise prep you for boot camp. The thought about getting out never occured to me. The maximum delay in those days was 120 days so the Corps could more bodies to Nam as soon as possible. There was no prep or training of any kind just a waiting period which i used to get myself into shape and get ready to go to boot camp. There was no mention of quiting. If there was it was not told about it. I remember being really charged up about becoming a Marine. I was physically ready when I got to those yellow foot prints but I was not mentally ready for what I had signed up for! Don't think you can get mentally ready for recruit training! That's the Drill Instructors job anyway! Semper Fi
