Chavez Threatens to Nationalize Banks
CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Thursday threatened to nationalize the country's banks and largest steel producer, accusing them of unscrupulous practices.
"Private banks have to give priority to financing the industrial sectors of Venezuela at low cost," Chavez said. "If banks don't agree with this, it's better that they go, that they turn over the banks to me, that we nationalize them and get all the banks to work for the development of the country and not to speculate and produce huge profits."
It was not clear if Chavez was only referring to Venezuelan banks like Mercantil Servicios Financieros CA and Banco Provincial SA, or if he was also aiming the threat at major international banks with subsidiaries in the country, such as Citigroup Inc. (C) and Spanish banks Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BBV) and Banco Santander Central Hispano SA. (STD)
Chavez also warned the government could take over steel producer Sidor, which is majority controlled by Luxembourg-based Ternium SA. (TX) Shares of Ternium fell 3.9 percent to $26.15 in U.S. trading after Chavez's comments.
Sidor "has created a monopoly" and sold the bulk of its production overseas, forcing local producers to import tubes and other products from China and elsewhere, Chavez said.
"If the company Sidor ... does not immediately agree to change this process, they will obligate me to nationalize it," Chavez said.
"I prefer not to," Chavez added, as he ordered Mining Minister Jose Khan to depart immediately for the company's headquarters and come back with a recommendation with 24 hours.
"Sidor has to produce and give priority to our national industries ... and at low cost," he said.
Chavez initiated a nationalization drive in January that is bringing the country's largest telephone company CANTV and the electricity sector under state control. The state oil company also took over the last privately run oil operations in the country from major international oil companies on Tuesday.
Chavez, a close ally of Cuban leader Fidel Castro, says the nationalization of "strategic" companies are part of Venezuela's transition to a socialist system. "I'm not deceiving anyone," Chavez said. "I'm only governing the country, and the country has elected me various times ... All of those who voted for me backed socialism, and that is where we are heading."

10z... Please explain to me in your own words just how you can buy into all the huge conspiracy's about a bunch a Capitalists and evil men on the top of the pile marching us into war, and then say something like this?
Yeah, the idea of people controlling their bankers and steel corporations is anti-capitalism, Chavez should go...
What you don't think that Chavez is the type of arsehole that would march folks right into war? I mean really... I just don't get it.
NO two democracies have ever gone to war with each other...
The Socialists and the Communists do it all the time..
Respectfully submitted of course...

Former Marine looking to Re Enlist HELP
I am just bored of sitting around.. Runing a Construction comapny and need back in the Corps....
My wife is a Marine... I met her at my Reserve unit in Topeka KS... We were both Med Boarded out in 2003 for dfferent reasons.. She will never be able to return I am hoping to...
I was booted out after I had a blood clot in my shoulder. I had to have a surgery to relieve pressure on some vien... I work construction and have not had a problem since this incident...
I have a copy of my dd214 on the way to my home, I never recieved one..
The paper I do have has this on it
a. Type of separation: Disabilty
b. Character of service: Honorable
c: Separation Authority: MARCORSEPMAN 8402
d. Separation code: JFR3
e. Reenlistment code: RE-3P
Let me know if anyone can help I am in the Kansas City Area.... The local recruiters at least to me seem a little more interested in fresh blood. Less paper work I guess.... They are all willing..... I just want to work with someone HIGHLY MOTIVATED.

Damnit... I really have to stop being in such a damn hurry typing that stuff out... That crapp up there doesn't make any damn sense at all...
What I meant to say is that I was fixed before the Corps kicked me out... The Corpsman at my reserve unit... uummm... wasn't always on top of things. By the time I realized this it was to late.
My wife had transfered to that unit and managed to stay in for 2 and a half years after TWO open heart surgeries and a Graft on her heart because this guy never noticed a medical record the size of war and peace... It only was noticed when she got pregnant...
Semper Fi.
HOLM, it doesn't make sense to me ? If the alleged blood clot in your arm is service connected, why would you have to spend money and not see the VA doctor (below), blood clots have nothing to do with bones. Did you mean a Cardiologist ?

I have not called any of the reserve units.. I don't know why I didn't think of or do that yet. I speak with Marines from up there all the time. Thanks for that... I emailed the former CO Major Phelps.. and congratulated him on his readers digest article, since I was not able to be a part of the group of enlisted guys that did that. He didn't know what exactly to tell me. Of course he is on the other side of the fence.....
I'll give them a call now.
I can get the orthopedic doc's report no problem. I just have not gone to expense yet, given I have not..... Catch 22 there I guess. Better spend the $$$.

Ok dude you are starting to **** me off...
I never recieved a copy of my DD 214... I would have never been discharged if the same corpsman that screwed up my wifes stuff had not screwed up mine..
The lingering problem with my shoulder was a nerve that was damaged when the surgery was done to remove a chunk of my top rib to relieve pressure on the subclavain vein.
It suposedly was not "service" related because I was not admitted to the hospital during a drill weekend. I didn't want to push the issue about it being service related because I never wanted out in the first place.
I got in trouble serveral times for participting in stuff that I was not suposed to be doing because of my TNPQ status...
You are a real piece of work... It is good that this site requires that I remain friendly because I have a lot to say right now...
You sure just spent a lot of time soley for the purpose of defacing me... Without good reason or purpose I might add..
GSO I hope you not like this, but Jet and this a-hole seem just more and more like typical lefties to me.. I am frankly just gettin F-ing fed up.. Marine or not I have less respect for this jerkoff everytime he posts.
