    Crucible

I was in my recruiters office the other week and a girl just got back from Parris Island. She was explaining to me that her platoon was one of the last ones to do the "old" Crucible. My question is what is the "new" Crucible like. Thank you for any information.

It's a rumor that has been passed on since before my time. It's seems every boot coming into my Btn was the last platoon to do the old crucible and all the new recruit would only have 8 week boot camp with a 1-2 day crucible.

Nothing has changed. It is had you would hear about it on here as well as...

You mean you all haven't heard about the new cruicible? It features live overhead fire directed by the DI's that hate the recruits the most. It lasts for 15 months and you don't get any food, water, or sleep. The defining moment is where you have to kill your entire family to show you are dedicated to the Marine Corps above all else.

    as you were

Be advised: the 'girl' you're referring to is now a U.S. Marine and fellow warrior. She's already telling sea stories. ; )
Don't **** her off or she may accidentally hurt you.

We have current Drill Instructors from both MCRD Parris Island and the more superior MCRD San Diego on this site and they advise that the crucible is alive and well and without change!

    OORAH!!!

I have more "cushioning" (we'll call it) - first time I bounced! After that the spine got knocked out of whack and have to see a chiropractor on a regular basis now.

Jim we all know that your blessed MCRDSD doesn't hold a candle to the wonderful island and therefore they cannot be superior to the Islanders. I know we all have our opinions but there is no way in hell or anywhere else like the wonderful vacation we were awarded at Paradise Island.
