    Enlisted or Officer?

What would be the better route?

1)Enlist for 4-6 years then use the Montgomery G.I. Bill and go to NC State and do NROTC(do the Marine option), then come back into the USMC and become a 2nd Lt. with more experience.

    or

2)Go to NC State right out of high school, do NROTC(do the Marine option), get paid like an Officer for 8 years as opposed to Enlisted pay for 4 years, then another 4 years of college, but be less experienced and Green.

    personal opinions,experiences, etc.

I'm in 10th grade right now(also doing JROTC) (Air Force part though ) lol, and I'm just trying to figure out with what I want to do for a career and what would be the smartest thing to do.

Also, is the Enlisted pay enough to get by on? I know the figures and everything, I'm just trying to see if it's substantial. I know it gets better as you climb in rank and years of service.

    Thanks to Anyone who Replies

Sounds like you're down in my neck of the woods. Talk to Cadet Stevenson, tell him LCpl Meyer sent you, out there at Broughton, then come out to a Young Marines meeting (1830-2030, Monday Nights @ the Raleigh Naval Reserve Center).
